About MB Surf

Manhattan Beach Surf Volleyball Club was founded in 2006 by Larry and Christine Mirick with one boys' 12s team and a focus on teaching fundamentals, competing, and having fun. Thanks to strong coaching, committed players, and team camaraderie, that first team earned three Junior Olympic medals in four years. As interest grew, MB Surf expanded in 2008 and again in 2009. In 2011, Michael Boehle and John Beckwith took over ownership, maintaining the club’s core values and family atmosphere. MB Surf emphasizes not only volleyball skill development but also shaping respectful, well-rounded young men. Today, Michael Boehle is the sole owner and has continued to adhere to this policy set forth years ago. Each team has two experienced coaches, practices 2–3 times a week, and competes in regional and national tournaments. Our players will become better volleyball players, and more importantly, will become outstanding respectful young men doing things the “right” way. GO SURF! Michael Boehle – Owner & Director
